Sedums add color from midsummer through early fall, when most other flowers are waning. And Autumn Joy, particularly, lights up with bright pink to orangey flowerheads giving any garden a needed lift for a long period. "They are very awesome! Love seeing honey & bumble bees during the late summer when they flower. I do cut them down in the late fall, just great plants. Deer are a problem, we live in Northern Michigan where white tail are common -- they love to eat them. I had to fence the plants from the deer."

"Like all perennials, these take a couple of years to establish themselves in the bed. The second year, I got flowers. In the third year, the plant is flourishing. I expect the same behavior with the new plants this year. These have pretty good drought tolerance. I generally plant them, water for a couple of weeks and then leave them to nature. Large Flower Heads Even In Extreme Heat….
"The Autumn Joy plants have so far made it in the extreme heat we have had here in Texas. I water them every other day. Our temps have been between 105 and 110 degrees for the last two months with no rain and is to continue through at least September. I would say they are Hardy plants."
So far my plants are growing. One is not doing as well.
