This native elderberry is a spreading shrub grows to be about 8-10 feet and boasts creamy-white flowers in mid-summer, giving way to loose clusters of delicious black fruits that are high in nutrients and antioxidants. The foliage then turns a deep burgundy in Autumn, completing the wonderfully-changing cycle of this beautiful shrub. (Sambucus canadensis)

One of my favorites

"I love elderberry. This arrived very healthy and large and is thriving (until recently, when something cut off its top half, but I'm hoping that won't be lethal and whoever it was will not come back to do more damage)."

"#sweepstakes I just love all the plants I got from American Meadows. We recently purchased 7. 5 acres and my goal is to make our field (2. 5 acres) into a pollinator field with native plants only. All the plants I have ordered frim here have been very healthy and are doing wonderdul! Thank you American Meadows!!"

I'm hesitant bc one plant is did not grow

"Thank you for checking. I ordered 2 plants. One came dead. I planted it but it did not take. I tried your number but no one picked up. The other plan is blooming very well. . I'm at work now. Sorry I could send you a picture"

Going well

"I was worried about it being temperamental with our growing conditions (overly hot in the day cool to chilly in the evening) and it has done surprisingly very well. It has not produced any fruit yet however the flowers and bush has grown well for a partial growing season. I am considering getting more to cultivate a "shrub privacy wall" in the front of our house. Currently am growing in an oversized pot however plan to transplant this fall into the ground."

Great root

"Rapid growth, full and stable. Unfortunately, the deer liked it too! Ate it to the stem. It's coming back very well. The root stock is established enough to survive Bambi."

Texas G. (5/5)

Uncertain.

"The plants arrived well packaged and looking healthy. I planted them in my yard with extra super soil in the holes and mulch around to keep down weeds. They are alive but not thriving. It has been 7-8 weeks and I see no signs of growth."

Jo L. (4/5)

One of the two I bought is doing good

"One of the ones I bought is doing great! The other one keeps getting eaten by bugs, which sucks. I'm hoping it bounces back next year. We have had a bad pest problem this year because we had a mild winter hopefully next year will be better."

Flammer F. (5/5)

great plants and customer service.

"I received damaged plants and customer service replaced them in no time and they grew wonderfully."
