Easy to grow ‘Fireworks’ Goldenrod (Solidago rugosa 'Fireworks') is a tried-and-true cultivar ideal for naturalistic garden designs. ‘Fireworks’ was introduced in 1993 from the North Carolina Botanical Garden, a selection from a coastal plain population of Solidago rugosa. ‘Fireworks’ was the top-rated cultivar in the Chicago Botanic Gardens 5-year goldenrod trials. Slow to spread, this slow spreader grows best in moist, well-drained soil but can tolerate dry or wet soils and even clay soils. While it prefers full sun, it can adapt to partial shade. Solidago rugosa (AKA “rough goldenrod”) is known for its rough and hairy stems featuring rough, dark green leaves. Unlike other goldenrods, Fireworks Goldenrod has unique arching stems. In late summer and throughout fall, yellow blooms spread across the plant. To help keep growth manageable, cut plants down in early spring and divide every 2 to 3 years.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds.
