'Happy SingleĀ® Flame' Single Dahlia makes a strong impression with bold red flowers atop nearly-black foliage. Dahlias in the Happy SingleĀ® series feature very dark foliage that contrasts with saturated flower colors to stand out in the garden. Single flowers feature broad petals around a golden yellow center, favored by bees and butterflies thanks to the easy access to nectar and pollen. Happy SingleĀ® Dahlias are compact, meaning no staking is needed, and making them a good fit for containers and small gardens. Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once they begin to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. "I enjoyed everything about this addition to my flower bed this year. From its dark reddish foliage that added a new color to my garden to its beatiful flowers that arrived after most other plant had finished their show, this plant added a depth of color and longevity to this year's flower bed. I hope I get them pulled before winter sets in up here in Vermont."
