How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"Very disappointed: 3 inch flowers are NOT "Dinner Plate" size! The flowers were mostly yellos, with some white on outer petals, but absolutely no other colors. I picked specifically for the large size and color, for contrast in my border, but it looked more like a zinnia."
"Tried out the Peaches and Cream and was pleased with this one. The blooms are very cheerful and bright and make great cut flowers on their own, or in an arrangement with other dahlias or whatever else may be in bloom at the time. This one produced a ton of buds and was very sturdy for the large blooms. The colors varied a bit on the blooms too for fun subtle variations on this one. These are like sunshine in flower form, will be growing these again for sure."
"My Peaches & Cream were the last to bloom. The stalks are over 7. 5 feet tall now, mid-October. The flower size is not dinner plate size. The widest diameter has been 4 inches. The blooms are pretty, though, and variagated. Some are more yellow and white. Some have more peach on the outer petals. Definitely require good staking."
"I'm very pleased with my dahlia order. I bought Dinnerplate Dahlia Kelvin Floodlight (yellow), Dinnerplate Dahlia Snow Country (white), Dinnerplate Dahlia Thomas Edison (purple), Dinnerplate Dahlia Babylon Red (red) and Dinnerplate Dahlia Peaches and Cream (peach and white). I've listed them here by size from largest flower to smallest. And I'm posting this review under "Peaches and Cream" to alert you to the fact that the Peaches and Cream I got aren't really dinnerplate size. They're small, but I got DOZENS of flowers that have lasted for weeks. The plant looks terrific. At about mid summer it came to me that I probably should have supported my dahlias with stakes. Then my Rottweiler chased a stray dog into my Dahlias and knocked some down. Stakes probably would have helped with that, too. Still, they continue to produce wonderful flowers and I couldn't be any happier with my dahlia order."
