How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"I love this dahlia! Its appearance is very different from the advertising picture, however. In reality, this dahlia is not such a round, ball shape or such dark, intense orange. Prince of Orange really looks more like a sunburst with somewhat darker center and fading to lighter orange towards the outside. The coloring is blended like brushstrokes. Strong long stems good for cutting. Long vase life. This variety is less susceptible to overwatering damage in my well-drained soil than Bacardi dahlia. Blooming did not start until mid September. I will try to start them indoors earlier in the season. No disease, very healthy. 1/3 tubers was not viable on arrival, but 2 tubers was enough for me."
"I no longer will order from you. Your bulbs are ALWAYS incorrect. I ordered orange received cream. Same with tulips. Ordered colorful received yellow. ,. ,"
"The first set of these tubers were all broken at the necks but American Meadows was very prompt about sending replacements! I ordered these tubers very late in the season as well (the 3rd week of June) and they took off just after the Bacardis opened and have done very well! The problem: The thumbnail photo shows what looks like an orange ball Dahlia, comparable to Marnn/Sylvia. Customer photos show different images as well, all different from each other. I did reach out to American Meadows about this before ordering, so I took a chance full well knowing I may not get what's shown in the product photos. . . so that's on me! 😂 Overall, American Meadows has had some of the best customer service around and nice tubers at an affordable price. I definitely recommend them and will continue to order from them in the future!"
"It's a nice pant, but it's not really orange - more a yellowish orange. Maybe next year it will look more orange. Will replant the tubers."
"Grew fine staked and fertilized. Did not bloom"
"Love these flowers!! I'm a huge fan of dahlias and these guys are awesome! I love their color and they are producing a bunch of big beautiful flowers on super long, thick stems. I ran out of room in my planter box, so I purchased some half-wine barrels and planted the overflow of tubers (2 per barrel) and added a small trellis. They are thriving! Will definitely keep for next year!! I love American Meadows and their customer service is excellent!"
"Orange Is My Favorite Color Of Flower And This One Delivered Not As Bright As Neon Splendor Or Swans Olympic Flame But Still Very Vibrant. Only 2 of 3 sprouted but likely was my fault."
