The pinwheeled blooms of 'Pennhill Watermelon' Dinner Plate Dahlia are frilly and feminine and oh so fabulous! The pink-a-licious petals twist and twirl, lending a ruffled look to this enormous bloom. It's also an outstanding performer in a vase where it happily flowers for up to 10 days. (Dahlia)

I would buy this dahlia again and again

"I love this dahlia - Penhill Watermelon. I'm in Los Angeles zone 10b and grow my dahlias in 10" plastic pots sunk into my drought-tolerate garden. This way the dahlia pot stays cool but gets more water than the drought-tolerant plants around it. This plant is tall, prolific and very healthy. The flowers are gorgeous, fluffy pink with yellow!"

Huge, beautiful blooms!

"Planted many dahlias this year, and this one stands prominently next to all the others. The colors are bright and strong, and all the blooms are true to their dinnerplate size! This is one of my favorite dahlias, would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves having them in their garden or who plants them to create beautiful bouquets!"

Beautiful big blooms

"Update from last review; my other plant is blooming beautifully! I love them and hope over the years it continues to grow bigger. Cut some blooms to bring inside so I could enjoy all day."

Disappointed

"Started tuber in a pot then transferred to bed after about a foot tall. It was doing well and blooms were being established but then it died. Not sure why because everything else in the bed is thriving. Very sad and disappointing because these were expensive and I was really looking forward to the beautiful blooms."

"Have these in the back of the border"

Beautiful blooms!

"All three of my Penhill Watermelon tubers grew and produced blooms this year! In CA we've had a super hot year, so they plants didn't look great, but they have still been blooming these, huge, BEAUTIFUL blooms! I can't wait to grow them again next year. A favorite for sure."

Lovely Expressive Blooms

"My current favorite. I grow a lot of different dahlias, so to be my current favorite, you really have to reach my soul. Watermelon changes color over time, so don't expect your flower to be static. It's a very expressive variety, tender, feminine. Tubers arrived in good condition."
