Description
In it's native range of Africa to Asia, this beautiful climber is considered by some cultures to be magical, and it is easy to see why! Gloriosa lilies are a true spectacle twining up a trellis, each flower looks like a flame. Give it something to climb on, since the glossy, handsome leaves sprout twining tendrils as the vine grows. Perennial in zones 8-10, container happy, and adaptable to poor soils, this is an impressive bloomer that is easy to grow!
From a gardener who's grown it: 'I was given some gloriosa tubers two years ago. They die down in Montgomery, AL in the winter and new plants pop up next spring. And pop they do! They seem to pop up a couple of inches the first night and grow quickly after that. I have small trellises and plant stakes to help them stand and they are so unique as the blooms develop. I transplanted one into a pot and brought it in when weather turned cold. I would not buy this item again from your company
"You sent me a shipment of Gloriosa Lilies that were half molded. I requested a new shipment. They were not much better. I planted all of them. Only one has come up. I would never recommend your company!!!! I grew them for years with the same bulb until finally it died. I do know how to plant and grow them!!"
Disappointing
"I planted the tuber immediately after receiving it. It only recently began growing and is only a foot tall. I can't imagine there's enough time for it to produce flowers this season. I plan to dig up and overwinter the tuber, and put it in a pot next year."

"This plant is a vigorous climber and does much better with something to climb on. It likes it hot and dry and doesn't come out til mid-late July (I am in VT). I love this plant and grow it every year. It did take some practice to get the full splendor to show, but now that I know its idiosyncrasies, it is very easy. I have these climb my Pergola on my Patio and they love it"
