How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
This is a popular hybrid mix of colors created from the true grandfather species of them all—the basic annual sunflower that figured so prominently in Native American ritual, fabric making, and foods. Flowers are highly decorative, with small centers and petals that range from pure gold to gold with brown, deep reds, and an unlimited show of color combinations. This is to sunflowers what Gloriosa Daisy is to black-eyed susan. A very popular mix in the cut-flower trade, and a must for your cutting garden.

"First time planting in my field. I love having my coffee and looking out at the different sunflowers. Like a mention before I thought I would have more flowers with the amount of seeds I planted. . ( one and half bags"
"I planted this for a fence border but the seeds didn't grow so I started them in pots and then transplanted and am finally seeing success with plants that are about to bloom."
"Spread our seeds in the fall in an area around our mt. Cabin. When we returned in late May we had no plants or flowers come up. Had been hoping for a flower meadow outside my window but no luck. The seeds didn't survive the winter rain, snow and wildlife."
"Of all the seeds I have bought from American Meadows, these performed the best. The germination rate was outstanding, the flowers were robust and they required zero care or intervention once they began to grow. The flowers attracted all sorts of wildlife and were awesome as cut flowers in an arrangement. If you are looking for something that attracts attention, is maintenance free and is loved by wildlife and neighbors alike, this is the seed."
"I planted these in a location that was less than ideal, mixed with the Southeast Wildflower mix and covered with a light layer of pine straw. They are in full sun, but they are on a slope and in 100% hard red clay from when my neighborhood was built two years ago. I have several different colors, including regular yellow, almost brown, and everywhere in between. Head sizes range from 3-8" and the plant heights are anywhere from 12" to 36" depending on their particular microclimate. Each stem has between 1 and 8 flowers, with most having in the 3-4 range. Some of these were sown in a location that previous had Bermudagrass sod (killed with Roundup) and those did much better, so I plan on sowing these again next year with a layer of topsoil or peat moss to hold some moisture around them in the brutal summer sun. Once they got a few sets of leaves, they no longer needed watering. Good price on these compared with buying packets at the store, and much nicer to have the variety."
"We plant these around our taller variety of sunflowers to help support them. They are beautiful and come into bloom as other things are fading."
"Beautiful Flowers!"
"Seeds were easy to grow and the whole range of red/brown/golden colors came up. Many flowers on branched stems didn't droop like larger-headed sunflowers."
"I was a little worried reading the reviews that there wouldn't be many colors. I could not have been more wrong. I planted them in several beds and they were absolutely spectacular. There were many with small heads, which were perfect for cut flowers and large ones you could see am miles away. It might have been the weather or something else this year, but I had much less of an issue with aphids on these. They were slow to bloom (but it rained 27 of 30 days in June, and everything was slow this year. They're about done now (9/24) and the gold finches are feasting on the seeds."
"I used them to add color, depth and height to a wild flower garden with good results."
