How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
With huge flowers (often 10 or 12" inches across) these garden giants are perfect for meadow planting. Remember, these are the ones that grow from 8 to a whopping 12 ft. tall, so unless you're planting them alone, scatter them throughout your meadow, or use them as a background screen. Kids love watching them grow so fast and so tall, and of course, they're magnets for songbirds. Enjoy!
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Depending upon your order date, we may hold your shipment to combine it with other products on your order, if applicable. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. Mammoth Grey Stripe Sunflower Seeds are highly praised for their beauty and quality, making them ideal for meadow planting. However, some customers find the heads heavy and prone to drooping.

"Very disappointed. 72 started in my green house Only 2 have sprouted after 4 weeks. The zinnias, cone flowers, and even my strawberries and herbs are all thriving."
"Love the mammoth"
"These are beautiful and fantastic growers! We had about a 85% success rate with these, and then lost quite a few due to our well-fed huskies that decided they wanted snacks outside. . . The flowers that we were able to protect from our majestic little monsters have turned out great. Definitely need to be protected from the wind, or staked/supported cause the heads get extremely heavy and droop over. On the bright side, they're much easier to access if you want to cut them since it's only 4 feet away from the ground as opposed to 8-12 feet!"
"I've purchased mammoth grey stripe seeds from American meadows for many years. I often have a few plants that have more than one head but this year ALL of my sunflowers have multiple small heads on one plant. I've been growing sunflowers for 11 yrs. The other varieties worked well"
"I live in a modular home is a senior community. On each carport there is a rectangular metal shed which the house roof goes over. I plant sunflowers along each side facing away from the house. I've planted Mammoth Sunflowers many times in the past, & have usually had good results, but most did not live up to the potential height described on the package. Sizes would vary, some would flower after only a few feet tall. I like plants that grow huge. These sunflowers from American Meadows did not disappoint. I've never seen/grown any like these. The roof edge of the shed is about 10 ft. These Mammoth Sunflowers grew FEET above the roof line. Most were about 12 ft. , a few were 14-15 ft. high. I would stare at them in absolute AWE. Never had I seen anything like these Mammoth Sunflowers. They surely lived up to their description. After the beauty fades when maturing, the heads mature into HUNDREDS of seeds. When ripe, I feed them to the bunnies that come around because of all the natural flora I grow on the carport. I also grow basil, oregano & rosemary. Also pineapples from top cuttings of the ones I buy at the store. The bunnies (& squirrels) go nuts over the flower heads. The stalks of these Monster Mammoths are between 2 & 3 inches across. I use a reciprocating saw to cut them down, & when dry, I will use them to stake up other plants. I live in mid-Southern Florida, so I can do this all year. From first seed to harvested seed, these Mammoth Sunflowers will shock you with their size & beauty."
"This is our first time growing sunflowers. We were very anxious about the whole process. We are in Northern Maine and planted the 75'x 200' garden on Memorial Weekend. The sunflowers started to POP around Labor Day. All the anticipation was so worth it. Amazing!!! We will be expanding next year. Thank You very much!"
"These are excellent seeds, bought them in bulk for a volunteer program I am involved in. They are currently growing fantastic"
"the sunflowers grew to about 3 feet and only a few had blooms, very disappointed. We lived in a village that hosts a Sunflower Festival, so it was extra disappointing, We are in the process of moving, I was hoping to leave the purchaser with large beautiful sunflowers, which did. not happen."
"I live in Texas and was worried the storms from the hurricane would knock them over. However, since I planted them along my fence they were absolutely fine!"
"Great addition to the front porch area of my home. Good for bees."
