Get the drama, height, and color of Sunflowers year after year with Maximilian. The large, sturdy green stems produce gorgeous yellow blooms in summer through fall. Native to our North American prairies, this sunflower is great food for livestock and produces a large crop of seeds each year. This makes it attractive to other wildlife, including small mammals, migratory birds, and native songbirds. Maximilian is also a larval host to the Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly. Maximilian prefers moist but well-draining clay soils, but will tolerate a wide range of soil types. Easily grown from seed. Maximilian is named after Prince Maximilian of Germany, a naturalist who led an expedition to the West from 1832-1834.

"These perennial sunflowers are beautiful in our meadows. They reproduce well and are very easy to grow. In the summer they are a beautiful tall stem floating above the meadow grasses. The abundant sunflowers come on starting mid August well into the end of September."
"The Maximilian Sunflower Seeds never germinated, contact customer support who advised they had other complaints about this. Credited my credit card for seed cost minus shipping. Next spring, I will contact customer support to see if this problem was corrected. If so, will try again. America Meadows stood behind their guarantee so will continue to do business with them."

"I overbought for the space I was planing (against a fence bordering my property). In the past I have had less luck with bulk seeds' germination rates but every single seed in this pack must have germinated. I will have to thin the plants in fact! They came up quickly and we're now about a month in and they are still doing very well. They look better than some Maximillian plants my mom had purchased from a local nursery in fact! Highly recommend this product and this company!"
"I LOVE yellow flowers, have a lot of them. The Max. Sunflowers are pretty, bright and cheery in the sunshine just wish they stood on their own. They are the last blooming flower in my yard. They open in late September, so nice to have color so late in the year. Only gave 4 stars because of how they fall over and pretty much all of them lay against their sides."
