How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Yellow Prairie Grass, also called Indian Grass, is one of the dominant species of the tallgrass prairie, and makes a lovely addition to wildflower meadows by providing late season color and winter interest. Also stunning planted en masse in garden beds or as a vertical accent. Yellow Prairie Grass is a host plant of the pepper-and-salt skipper. Birds feed on the seed and collect dried stems for nesting.
Highly adaptable to most soils including heavy clays, shallow rocky soils, and poor drainage. Ideal for poor, infertile soils and dry sites. Limit water and fertility to keep plants upright. Yellow Prairie Grass is particularly effective for erosion control on slopes. Cut plants back in late winter or very early spring before new growth emerges.

"We have 3 acres we allow to grow naturally each year. This year we decided to put this Indian Grass in 1/4 of the area. It is coming along beautifully. Can't wait to see how it looks in the fall."
"I used this product on a pet's grave site because you can plant it in late fall and it looks pretty in the picture I saw of it"
