"Love these beautiful daffodils. They are big and bright yellow. So joyful to welcome spring. I can't wait to buy more."
"The bulbs were beautiful and they all came up this spring, strong and healthy! Absolutely beautiful daffodils. I've never planted bulbs before and was so excited to see them all come up!"
"beautiful, large, bright yellow"
"I planted 100 bulbs in front of six new hollies. The bulbs sprouted in February, then flowered in March, only to be hit by frost. The flowers have disappeared, but the plants look strong, so I am hoping they will recover this summer."
"I planted 50 Dutch Master Daffodils and 50 came up and bloomed. They are a beautiful vibrant yellow color. I cut 36 of them before an expected snowfall. Those have been in a couple vases for about a week and still look great. The ones I left outside are in mixed condition. We had several inches of heavy rain and then a few inches of snow. Half of the outdoor blooms are still standing tall but half fell over. I am very happy with this purchase and would definitely plant again."
"I used this in a border flower bed - all. The bulbs grew and put out lovely flowers. I plan to buy more this season for the rest of my flower beds!"
"I live in a pretty windy location on the water and these held their own and look great"
"I planted these daffodils in containers and the greenery emerged in early March. By mid-April, still now flowers and I thought they were not going to bloom. But the first buds emerged on April 18 and there are still flowers holding their heads up on May 13, after a few upper 80s weeks this spring in Atlanta. I did move them to the shadier balcony to give them a chance for lasting."
"I try to buy at least 50 per year (alas I was too late this year) and naturalize by planting clusters of 5 throughout my fields. They are big, bright and long-lasting yellow blooms are a welcome sight against the early spring green grass. The only place they've faltered is where my soil is overly dry or in too much shade. Loved my my family, friends, neighbors and passersby alike. I've bought King Arthur/Dutch Master elsewhere but never had such good luck as what I get from American Meadows. Many AM bulbs are actually doubles, which means they fill in faster. #happycustomer"
"I bought these bulbs to landscapea small island in the middle of a small pond. I needed something bright that would been seen from the shore. I planted these daffodil bulbs quite late - early December, and I worried that they would come up. They were late appearing, but when the bloomed, they were exactly what I had pictured. So yay!!!"
Imagine a field of fresh golden daffodils waving in the spring breeze. Remember the old movie, Dr. Zhivago? The spectacular vision of golden flowers carpeting the ground under spring-leaved trees. A drift of color up a hillside. A huge sweep of gold into the distance. As beautiful as the fantasy is, it couldn't be easier to create. And you only have to do it once.
Naturalizing Daffodils. Probably nothing in the gardening world is more foolproof and more rewarding than 'naturalizing' daffodils. Because unlike most other garden flowers, these fantastic plants are super-easy to plant in fall, they don't care about soil, as long as it's well-drained, and they'll bloom beautifully for you with absolutely no work every spring after you plant them. Best of all, daffodils increase over the years, each bulb developing into a blooming clump. All you have to do is pick the spots. The one thing to remember is that you won't be able to mow that area until the tops die down. Everything else takes care of itself. In a new or established wildflower meadow, the wildflower plants grow up around the daffodils hiding the fading foliage, so there's no work to do. And if you're planting wildflower seed, what could be easier that to pop in the bulbs when you have the ground already turned?
OK, what's the best Dutch daffodil for naturalizing? Well, most daffodils naturalize just fine, but if you want the classic drift of golden blooms, here's the story.
