Easy to grow from tiny roots called pips, Lily of the Valley is a much-loved, old-fashioned groundcover for shade. Enjoy the richly scented blossoms. (Convallaria majalis)
Lily of the Valley is the super-hardy, highly scented early spring plant that makes a lovely green mat in any moist shady spot, spreading every year. The foliage is sort of like a solid green miniature Hosta, and you know the flowers. One of the great things about Lily of the Valley is the way the foliage stays rich and green all summer long. If you've never seen them before, don't be shocked by the tiny roots called pips. They're supposed to be that small, and are a snap to grow.

"Very disappointed in this product. They came as pips instead of sprouted plants and not even all 15 were included. Despite following instructions to a T nothing has sprouted. I asked a reputable local nursery to source Lily of the Valley for me and they are thriving."

Still thinking about trying again
"I am a little reluctant to buy these again. For the past two years I have purchased them. 2 years ago only about 4 of the plants came up with no blooms. Last year the about half the plants came up and got green stems, but no flowers or blooms. I also ordered the pink ones, and they were not much better. No sure if poor quality plants or what the problem is. I so badly want these flower to bloom, as one of my favorites. I will think about it."
— Avid G. (1/5)
I would not buy this
"because they are plugs, its hard to separate them, the planting instructions are terrible to know how to plant them, they didn't send me all that was supposed to be included in the order. only 3 of the tiny little plants came up. it was terrible and a total disappointment. I went with someone else and bought lamium to put in the space since they come in flower pots. this experience was bad and I don't think I will order anything from them again."
— GardenerB (1/5)
I would not order anything from here.
"the first time I ordered there were supposed to be 20 and there were like 2. got a replacement and it was a little better but not much. I planted like 20 of these pips I have 3 coming up and that's it. very disappointing. I'm planning on seeing what happens next spring otherwise I'm putting lamium in there instead from someone else."

Year 1 struggles
"Only a couple are still alive. Some didn't come up at all. Some died. I'm hoping they will all magically sprout next year. But the shade garden is not looking good this year."
— Amycakes (2/5)
great perrenial and they smell great too!
"i planted them to hold a slope in place they are green and growing and wil hold the bank in place for us! and they smell great when they bloom too!"
— Kevin (5/5)
Healthy and promising pips!
"I was concerned when I saw the low rating, but I figured the low rating was most likely due to folks not knowing these babies can take years before they flower. 🥰 They are so worth the wait though! And yes, these things will spread like crazy—just be patient. These pips arrived and every one of them was beautiful, and already pretty advanced in their growth. More developed than I thought they'd be. I'm new to gardening myself, but my mother taught me a lot about flowers growing up. Perennials always take at least a couple years. But the patience pays off in the end, just give them time! 🥰"
— Lucinda C. (5/5)
I would try it again
"The Lillies did not bloom but only one small pot grew out of 4 pots. So, we will see if they do better next year. But I will be ordering again for the next year."
— Elk W. (3/5)
It's early yet, but I have to write . . .
", , , because my experience (so far) has been so different from many of my cohorts here. I'll admit that I was a little intimidated at separating the pips. But I ordered 15 . . . and there were 17. I had enough extra that I could start 3 small pots in addition to the ones I put in the ground! Most are already leafing out (I planted two weeks ago). The others (save one) all have green beginning to appear at the tips. I can't speak to the flowers yet . . . maybe next year . . . but for now, I'm thrilled with the result. I did get more precise planting instructions on-line, and that was very helpful. Thank you for this (apparently) very nice product at an excellent price!"

Just planted, already growing
"I love your plants, they are packed to perfection and the roots are so healthy. I planted 15 Lily of the Valley a few weeks ago and they are already 4" tall. Great slips! I soaked them in water while I was planting them. I don't expect them to bloom this year, but will look forward to seeing them next year. I just received 6 other plants and they are just as expected "perfect". I need to make a bed for them at the foot of a garden raised bed. But will get that done in a few days. Your plants are even better than what I have received from a nursery that is closer to my area! Great work!"
