Vinca right for the right place

      By

      Comments about American Meadows Vinca:

Vinca is great where it can be controlled by an edge. I use it, bordered by bricks, with my clematis. It covers the clematis roots and keeps them cool which they like. This spot is in full sun, which I know is not the recommended use, but it's gorgeous and really does its clematis job. Once a year I clean up any vinca that try to go beyond the edge.

        Comments about American Meadows Vinca:

Vinca is one horrible plant! Our front yard is covered!
(it came with the house) It is very hard to pull as a weed
and it's uncontrolable and definitely not picky where it
spreads itself! I can't imagine any one that knows about
Vinca, buying 6 or more plants!! Plant 2 and watch them take
off quickly! You may never mow your grass again!

        Q & A

        Plant With These:

        USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

        • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
        • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
