How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"These all grew well. Can't wait for blooms."
"I bought 3 different Dahlias and Firepot was one of them. Followed instructions and planted as was recommended. All of the Dahlias came up but no sooner had they come up the pests found them. I battled aphids, grasshoppers etc. all summer long. . . and lost the battle. Didn't get to see a single bloom on this plant. IMO the dry heat and wind we get in South Dakota was probably a contributing factor as to why it was susceptible to so many pests. It was stressed. If you live in an area with this type of climate I would say try something else. Those who have had good results seem to live in a climate with heat AND moisture. Full sun in our dry, hot, windy summer stressed them. I moved one of the plants to part shade and it did a bit better but didn't bloom well there. Got a couple of flower buds but pests got them before they could open."
"This is a beautiful vibrant colored Dahlia! Has a great vase life. Beautiful colors!"
"So glad I started my dahlia collection with this one. Oh goodness the colors! It seems every bloom differs and is lovely colors. In the garden it's red and yellow and orange and vibrant as it's growing in sun. Inside side buds are blooming more yellow. Pinch the main bloom and get tons of side bloom. Other reviewer is correct that stems can be shorter compared to bloom size in some cases but I have some lovely small bud vases I use for them. Bloom sizes vary from small to large. I really love this plant in Central IL."
"I just absolutely love this dahlia. One of the first ones to bloom, and full of vibrant colors."
"Beautiful! But the overall color is closer to red than to pink with nice degraded orange/yellow in the middle when open. It grew well here in Houston to my surprise, foliage was dark green and thick, it gave me plenty of blooms by the end of the summer and through the fall. Flowers had a short steam though, and that's the only reason why I not giving it a 5 stars review."
"Planted these as part of a border. They produced beautifully colored blooms, the perfect size for arrangements. The blooms shifted in color as they matured adding aesthetic depth. They bloomed from June to November in zone 7! Had trouble with voles eating tubers and stalks tipping over despite being a compact variety, but will definitely get more."
"Short plant so good for front of border or containers. Vivid colors, bloomed true to picture, nice 4" sized flowers."
"Easily one of my favorite dahlias - first to bloom, prolific buds and those colors 😍"
"This is a beautiful Dahlia. My favorite in my perennial garden!!"
