Reviews

Run away from this!

"Do not buy this! My property is a certified wildlife habitat. I needed to cut Down on the amount of lawn I had. I bought 2 lbs of this and now I have straw with grass growing through it. I followed the instructions, had my landscaper help me. It’s just a nasty mess now!"

Barbara S. (1/5)

Beautiful!

"I decided to replace my back lawn with this alternative lawn cover and LOVE the results. The flowers are beautiful! I did seed once in the fall and I think I started too late, the results were patchy. I re-seeded again the following spring and had better results (South of Seattle). I have mowed a couple of times and the flowers grew back nicely!"

Kat (5/5)

Should be renamed to ""marigolds take over everything""

"I had high hopes for this one. . . the photo is nothing like what will really happen. Marigolds will take over and suffocate everything else. I'm curious to see how it looks next year - if any of the perennials actually come back. It was a pretty disappointing purchase."

Jay S. (2/5)

Love my No Mow lawn!!

"Love the alternative lawn mix! I added American Meadiws cosmos seeds for a pop of color"

Ricci (5/5)

Flowers are blooming and I am smiling

"I planted Alternative Lawn Wildflower Mix last Fall to replace grass in a shady area where moss tends to grow as well as or better than grass. It is early June and the area is well covered with small plants and lots of flowers. I couldn't ask for more and am looking forward to see what summer brings."

Wildflower F. (5/5)

I'm loving my wildflower patch!

"I'm transforming my backyard to a butterfly/bee friendly, grass-free environment. I started with some clover and wildflowers. My flowers are finally blossoming, and it's wonderful. I'm very curious to see what comes back next year, as some are annuals."

Missouri G. (5/5)

Beautiful the first season around

"The first season around the mix is very attractive. By the second all the daisies and bellflowers disappeared. After a few years now all I have left is fescue grass that needs to be mowed, yarrow , and some tall weeds that were in the mix. I have to rip it all back out."

Sy0310 (1/5)

Nothing grew. At all.

"I cleared and loosened soil, planted according to instructions and watered for three weeks. Absolutely nothing grew. The "250-500 square feet" of seed couldn't cover a 10 square foot area. Eventually other stuff grew in the clear soil as you can see. I am extremely disappointed. Now I have to clear again and try to find something else."

Paul (1/5)

I'm in love!

"Last summer's bounce house left a huge dead spot of lawn which became this summer's wildflower garden and I'm in LOVE! It took awhile to grow in and is still patchy, but that might've been my own error in planting or calculating quantity. I am confidently buying more wildflower lawn alternative seed for when this summer's pool gets retired for the season and leaves behind another dead spot."

Amanda (5/5)

The photo doesn't lie. I already ordered more.

"We killed a section of grass with a tarp and planted this in the spring. Worked great. The best part is the bunnies don't eat it."
