Versatile, drought-tolerant and easy-to-grow, Black Eyed Susan adds a cheerful splash of color to the summer landscape. A native plant that attracts a variety of pollinators, Black Eyed Susan pairs beautifully with other prairie favorites like Purple Coneflower and Butterfly Weed. Its adapatable nature makes it a great choice for poor soils and tough conditions. All of the seed we carry at American Meadows is non-GMO, neonicotinoid-free and guaranteed to grow. Biennial.

Black Eyed Susan

"I’m over 60 years old and have been an avid gardener for over 40 years. The soil at my Central AL house now is the worst I’ve ever been dealt. This Rudbeckia Hirta seed thrives in my heavy clay, nutrient poor soil. Plants are over 3 feet tall and covered with thousands of blooms over the half acre they have been sown. I did nothing more than throw them on top of the soil in the fall. I can’t wait to harvest the seeds and coax them into spreading to other areas."

The ostrich ferns are growing

"The ostrich ferns are growing they're about a foot tall now. The Black-Eyed susans come up but they're only about 2 inches tall and stop growing."

"Quick delivery within planting zone. American Meadows has always been my go to for seeds sknce i discovered them."

I would not buy this product again.

"Again, not ""blackeyed;"" final product is completely yellow. Was it a mistake in shipping and product fulfillment? I did not discover the mistake until the seeds had actually germinated and grown fully. I am not pleased!!"

Black Eyed Susansperfect for hot dry summers

"I had a bed next to my deck, I had removed some over grown shrubs. I wanted to simplify the site and put in color that compliments the other flower beds near by. The Black Eyed Susan flowers are perfect."

Lots of Flowers

"Flowers prosper in sandy dry soils near Lake Michigan and the deer don't touch them. Given the foregoing they are a rare finds"

I would buy again

"I use these for pollinators. They are very aggressive and produce long lasting blooms. Heat and drought resistant"

Low effort, big benefits

"Simple to plant and care for with consistently beautiful results. We used these for a number of small borders around our home that added some wonderful color over the summer and now into the fall that adds a nice seasonal touch reflecting the trees as they change color. We have also used for container planting with great results."
