How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Borage grows to be about 2’ tall with gorgeous, star-shaped blue blooms that open up in early to mid-summer. It prefers full sun and once planted will self-seed, making it an easy and long-lasting addition to the garden.
In zones 9-10, Borage grows best in the fall and the spring. Hot summer temperatures in these zones could distress your plants. Start the seeds in the fall for blooms all winter and spring.
In zones 2-8, sow Borage in spring once the soil has warmed.

"I mixed a ton of seeds and seed bombed every where. Mostly cosmos and borage came up."
"Borage is wonderful to use!! They reseed all over the place, and the bees love them! The blue flowers are so bright and almost like 3D in the garden! They easily spread everywhere year after year in my garden so glad I found them!!"
"Unfortunately we mixed all four varieties of flowers we purchased from you because we got started very late. The borage was outstanding and is still attracting bees and other pollinators. It is BIG and probably needs its own area. We are leaving everything in place and some are starting to seed. The birds love to eat them."
"second year growing these as they made it thru a florida winter ( yes we had some cold days) and these were not bothered by the cold at all. starting them from seed does take some time as they tend to be slow to germinate. maybe someone that has grown these longer than i have can give some input on these. . . but this is what i can share : i do like these plants and bees really like them, which is good. what i have noticed is that once they start growing, they grow fast and they tend to get to heavy and fall over and i have tried staking them, and it works for a short time. have seen where the stalk gets to heavy, falls over and then it starts to rot from the ground up, which is of course not good and at that point, you really cant save the plant, so it gets pulled out . i have tried to cut the lower foliage off the plant in hoping that it would help the plant, but seems the same issue happens each time they say it self seeds and i might have one that has done that , but its to early to tell. its a nice plant, just need to figure a way to help it so it doesnt get to heavy and then rot."
"The bes love it! Excellent companion plant for the garden where pollination is essential. Interplant among vines (cuke, strawberries, squash) for good success."
"I use this as a companion plant to my roses and sunflowers. Also, throughout the garden. I also use it as a chop and drop mulch (permaculture)."
"So unique I love them!!!"
"I wanted to plant a bee friendly garden and this product grew easily and attracted bees all summer"
"I am a 1st year beekeeper looking for bee friendly plants, and this product was as advertised."
"bought this mainly after reading that borage is a good flower for pollinators. Really enjoyed the flowers and found it interesting that occasionally I'd see a pinkish flower interspersed in the blue."
