These were harder to grow than I had thought

"I have turned my entire front yard into a wild flower meadow. I live in Salem, Oregon where the soil is very heavy clay. I already had a large growth of the standard yellow California poppies and a few dozen of the white ones that seemed to like the clay soil. This Purple Gleam has turned out to not like the Oregon clay. Out of a 1/4 pound bag, I ended up with maybe a dozen plants, and they only grew where I had replaced the clay soil with potting soil. I really like the purple flowers on this, so I will try again next year after creating more sections with amended soil. The other thing I noticed about this is that their growing season is much shorter than the yellow CA poppies - the yellow ones are still flowering but the purple ones already in their decline phase with no more flowers."
