"Hi all. This is my 2nd, updated review, of this seed mix, 9 months after planting the seeds November 17, 2025. I wanted to share some beautiful photos of some of the perennial plants that have come up since then, and let you know that we’ve had hundreds of monarch eggs laid on the six patches of swamp milkweed in our yard that came from the seed packet. As a reminder, I planted the seeds in large pots behind the garage and covered them with their own saucer to keep out squirrels, and the patch patches that came up in the pots were transplanted in JUNE into perennial Gardens. These had many stems of swamp milkweed and other perennial wildflower plants that I could not immediately tell what they were. Bidens aritosa came up with the milkweed in all the pots. I pulled out the Bidens aritosa (Tickseed Sunflower) from these patches because it grows huge and overpowers smaller yard perennial flower gardens. Instead, I let the Bidens aritosa grow tall up against a deck and fences in the backyard. It is now in full bloom in late August to September and full of pollinators, from yellow Cloudless Sulfur butterflies to bumblebees and the occasional Monarch. We also have 5 stunning False Sunflower plants that came up in this mix next to the Swamp Milkweed stalks. There are other plants in the patches that have yet to bloom but look healthy, possibly Hoary Vervain."
"I have plants growing from this mix from 2025 seeds in two locations: 1) in the ground 2) in 5-6 large pots that were planted in the fall, covered with saucers and left outside behind the garage to overwinter. This coldness is required for the milkweed to grow. I can confirm at least 18 milkweed plants are now 2 feet tall at the end of June 2026 in the large pots. I am going to transplant them into the garden soon. The difficulty level of getting these to grow does require the overwintering outside through cold months, or leaving the seeds in the freezer before planting (look that up for how long, etc… ) It’s not as easy as plant and water. There are a few important steps to grow milkweed from seed, which is the Monarch Caterpillar 🐛 host plant."
"Planted as directed. Watered regularly as directed. Unfortunately, nothing grew. Lots of $."
