"Upon receiving these plants I transplanted them into larger pots. They immediately took off. They have become somewhat bushy and are showing new sprouts around the bases . I have no blooms thus far but can't wait to to see some! Love these plants so far and will likely keep growing more of these."

"I am a first time purchaser from American Meadows. The description and pictures helped me choose the plants I purchased. The communication received from American Meadows regarding my order and the shipping process were accurate and timely. The plants shipped well packaged and healthy. After planting the 2 plants, 1 seemed to grow well and strong. The other plant's leaves kept getting eaten by some sort of pest. They were planted on different sides of the yard. I finally sprayed some soap water on the plant and now it seems to be growing well with no pests attacking it. I can't wait to see it flower."
About the Monardas This is a hybrid of the famous American wildflower with the bright red crown-shaped flowers, a description of the large scarlet blooms everyone and every hummingbird loves.
There are other species, but our famous Monarda or Bee Balm is native from the far north all the way south to Georgia, it was first discovered by world famous plant explorer John Bartram during the colonial era. Since it’s a member of the mint family with fragrant foliage, Bee Balm was always a medicinal plant of the Native Americans, and today adds wonderful color to perennial gardens and wildflower meadows. It’s a strong-growing perennial that likes moisture, and will grow in sun or partial shade.
As with all Bee Balms, the bloom begins in mid-summer, and if you cut off spent flowers for about three weeks, you'll extend the blooming into fall.
