Apricot Foxglove lends a soft and striking aspect to the spring garden. As a biennial plant, its low rosette of velvety foliage decorates the garden in the first year, and its tall peachy-pink flower spikes emerge in its second year. Funnel-shaped flowers open slowly from the bottom of the stem first, completely surrounding the stem and providing an incredible source of nectar and pollen for bees in particular. It’s a classic flower for shade gardens in a warm color that harmonizes nicely with any color scheme. (Digitalis purpurea)

Description

Apricot Foxglove makes a regal statement, providing vertical spikes of large, bee-friendly, bell-shaped blooms held along the tall stems in shades of pinky-peach. Apricot Foxglove is a classic biennial cultivar. In the first season, its low rosette of leaves will establish; the second season, their flowers emerge, and in the right conditions, they will reseed in the garden. Foxgloves are best suited for full-to-part-shade sites, in natural or cottage-style gardens where they can be planted in multiples and allowed to spread and reseed. Plant in moisture-retentive soil in a shady spot, and keep the foliage free of winter debris to avoid rot. All parts of Digitalis purpurea are poisonous if ingested.
