How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
The Gaillardias are one of the great glories of American wildflowers, carpeting whole landscapes to the horizon in the plains states and the west. The natives are the famous yellow and white pinwheel bi-colors. In our wildflower seed department, we sell the much-loved Blanket Flower.
But hybridizers are always anxious to improve native plants, no matter how beautiful they may be. And in this case, they have. Goblin is one of the oldest, and still probably the most popular hybrid, with very large flowers and a long bloom season.
Many other newer hybrids emphasize one color or the other--the red or the yellow. And in very recent years, even the flower form has changed. As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. "They plants were packed well. However. . . 1. one arrived dead and American Meadows replaced it. 2. Another has yet to flourish 3. Another turned out to be just a weed but I did not report it. 4. Two of them are doing well. Including pictures. I do know what I am doing and the rest of my garden is flourishing. I have other blanket flowers and cone flowers nearby in the same bed that are also thriving. I called customer service and told them one was dead. They replaced it immediately. Did not know the other one was a weed until a week later. I am choosing that I would recommend it to a friend simply because I believe I just got a bad batch."
"They were beautiful last summer but did not come up this year. I already bought more so we will see how they do. Customer service was no help in telling me how to prepare them for winter. If they don't live through this winter I will not buy again."
"After several weeks, only one of three plants actually bloomed. Even the one with the bloom is on 5" tall."
"I did buy this again, I had got two and I bought four more for my new pot. I am planning to mix in with Blue English Lavendar plant."
"I really liked how healthy they were when they arrived. They've been in the ground a couple weeks now and are looking great."
"They are pretty and don't need much watering. They are hardy. We had siding installed shortly after Inplanted these and some got stepped on and I thought they were dead. With some TLC they all grew and bloomed!"
"Used as a border for our lawn."
"They arrived in very nice, safe packaging. I thought they were rather puney, but after 4 weeks in my garden, they really perked up, and now, 2 months later they are show stoppers. The price was right too. So glad I found these, and American Meadows!!"
"I moved houses and had them at my old house and was unable to transplant. Couldn't wait to have them at my new house. Growing great for the first year. Love love the colors and I cut the blossoms and float them In A bowl of water."
"These plants are used by me as the focal point in the yard, as they are planted in the center with all the other plants like Dahlias, Japanese Snowball plants, Zinnias, etc. They are conversation starters for visitors to our back yard and the colors are phenomenal."
