Description

Many gardeners in the warmer regions of the country, and beyond, cannot help but to be passionate about Passion Flower. The beautiful vine, with its exotic tendrils winding around trellises, makes a quick green screen that very soon has spectacular and compelling flowers. This plant is gorgeous in the garden or shading a porch or deck. With good sunlight, heat, and some humidity, Blue Passion Flower Vine is trainable around a frame or trellis. The tendrils cling to brickwork, arbors or fences, but it will not cause any damage to their surfaces.

In zones 1-6, try planting in a pot outdoors in the summer as a patio accent – just make sure to prune heavily after flowering and bring indoors for the winter. You can cut up to one half of the year's growth to control the size. Feed the Passion Vine regularly before and during the flowering season. Repotting and pruning are usually done in late fall, before spring stimulates fresh new growth. In warmer zones, Blue Passion Flower is a reliable perennial vine. It will go dormant each winter, but bloom profusely with the ability to grow up to 25 ft long!

I LOVE this Vine!!

"I love this vine - I was a little hesitant the first year because all it grew were leaves and vines and while nice to have some privacy coverage on my deck, a little underwhelming. BUT YEAR 2 it is SHINING like the star it is!! So many flowers that have bloomed for more than a month now. I rarely have to do anything other than guide it around the deck or along a trellis because it grows out of control - which is exactly what I want. It's also propagating itself in the area beside it and even underneath my deck, which I love (sharing a photo). I've shown off photos of this plant all season and even pressed a flower in a frame! "Like I said thanks to your passifloras that I bought in 2019 and last year, we have grown a butterfly garden that really soothed us during the pandemic. In 2020, I placed an order for two more of those plants; I received them in April they are doing very well. Now I have a question related to caterpillars, more fauna than flora, and you may need to redirect me for help. One of the two plants you sent me this year has caterpillars bigger than the others, they are voracious and don't allow the plant to grow. Is that normal?"

This has been a spectacular Climber for a first year vine

"This vine has grown like crazy. It produced a lot of flowers before the weather got to be in the mid 90's. It has lots of buds. . . I am just hoping they will open in this heat. This is a great plant. Even if it doesn't survive the winter here. . . and I hope it will,,,I would order it again and plant it every spring as an annual just because it is such a unique flower and the vine is so healthy."
