"I planted these in a container to liven up a partially shady corner of our patio. I was delighted at how quickly they grew once the bulbs went in, but I got maybe 2 blooms all summer. And they didn't smell at all. Tons of foliage, so that's a plus. Hoping next year will be better, but I'm starting to think about Plan B."
"I have never been a fan of Begonias but have a semi-shady spot on my front stoop so I thought I would give them a try -- now I am in love and wonder how I ever lived without them! This mix has unusually shaped flowers in stunning tropical colors, and are subtly fragrant as you walk past. Required very little watering and became very large and lush. One of the things I loved is that when the order came I totally forgot about it and by the time I planted the roots they were like dried up little hockey pucks. I just kept my fingers crossed and planted them and they became ginormous and flowered early and often. (I wouldn't recommend this approach -- results probably vary ;) )"
The soft color scheme of Odorata Mixture Begonias has been professionally combined, allowing you to effortlessly create a seductive combination of scent and flower color in your shady and part-shade containers. Fully double, succulent blooms come in shades of pink, white and red and are held on strong stems just above dark green serrated foliage. Begonia Tubers can be started indoors for early bloom, or outside when temperatures warm above freezing. Odorata Mixture Begonias are usually at their best in containers where the abundant blooms can reach high or loosely fall over the sides of the pot. Plant in rich, moisture-retentive soil that drains well. Watering too much can rot the tubers, which should be planted on their sides with the top of tuber at soil level. If planting in garden beds, make sure soil is moist but well-draining and ensure the plants are sheltered from afternoon sun.
