"I decided on this mix because it would be used in a small area, about 450 square ft. I have a bird bath in that area and I wanted wildflowers that wouldn't grow too much above it. It arrived about 10 days after I ordered and because I spent $30 on seeds, I followed the instructions to a T. I was thrilled when I started to see the new growth and looked forward to the beauty to come. Nope. Just all green hay field looking weeds. ??? Not one bit of color or flowers. This was planted the first week of July and this is what we got."
"I used this mix to plant between Rocks for a border at the edge of a lawn and gravel parking space. It has lasted about 2 seasons, and I just ordered a new package to reseed this area. We all loved it and neighbors loved it too!"
"Do not buy this! My property is a certified wildlife habitat. I needed to cut Down on the amount of lawn I had. I bought 2 lbs of this and now I have straw with grass growing through it. I followed the instructions, had my landscaper help me. It’s just a nasty mess now!"
"Not one seed has come up yet. I will update this review if this changes."
"I decided to replace my back lawn with this alternative lawn cover and LOVE the results. The flowers are beautiful! I did seed once in the fall and I think I started too late, the results were patchy. I re-seeded again the following spring and had better results (South of Seattle). I have mowed a couple of times and the flowers grew back nicely!"
"I had high hopes for this one. . . the photo is nothing like what will really happen. Marigolds will take over and suffocate everything else. I'm curious to see how it looks next year - if any of the perennials actually come back. It was a pretty disappointing purchase."
"Love the alternative lawn mix! I added American Meadiws cosmos seeds for a pop of color"
"I planted Alternative Lawn Wildflower Mix last Fall to replace grass in a shady area where moss tends to grow as well as or better than grass. It is early June and the area is well covered with small plants and lots of flowers. I couldn't ask for more and am looking forward to see what summer brings."
"I'm transforming my backyard to a butterfly/bee friendly, grass-free environment. I started with some clover and wildflowers. My flowers are finally blossoming, and it's wonderful. I'm very curious to see what comes back next year, as some are annuals."
"The first season around the mix is very attractive. By the second all the daisies and bellflowers disappeared. After a few years now all I have left is fescue grass that needs to be mowed, yarrow , and some tall weeds that were in the mix. I have to rip it all back out."
