24-36" tall x 18" wide. Here Comes the Night Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) offers large sultry flowers of deep purple to black petals in the mid-spring garden. Buttermilk yellow beards add the perfect contrast to the dark petals, accenting the dramatic nature of these flowers. At 24-36" tall, they make a perfect focal point near an entry or anywhere they can be appreciated close up. Consider planting them with tall Allium, Oriental poppies, and other Bearded Iris that will be enhanced by the unique color of Here Comes the Night. Easy-care and with a hard-working nature, plant them in soil with good drainage with the tops of the rhizomes (bulbs) even with the top of the soil. Keep evenly moist, but don't overwater, and you will be rewarded with beautiful, dramatic flowers that anchor the mid-spring garden. Producing 6-7 buds per stalk on sturdy three-branched stems, this Iris is a dependable, deer and rabbit resistant, bloomer.
