How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
5" tall x 2" wide. Katharine Hodgkin Dwarf Iris brightens the late winter to early spring garden with delicate blue flowers. Plant these low-growing blooms in a sunny to part-shade location along a woodland edge, in a rock garden, along the edge of a path, or in a container where you can enjoy the artistic details up close. Katharine Hodgkin is lovely planted with other dwarf iris and snow crocus. Plant in groups of at least 20 bulbs for best results. Not fussy, plant 4" deep and 3" apart in average well-drained soil. Keep the soil relatively dry during summer. The grass-like foliage will continue to grow as the flower fades but will disappear by late spring as the bulb goes dormant. Drought-tolerant, and deer-and-squirrel-resistant too.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. "Beautiful, looks more grey than blue. Kinda ghostly looking, and unique!"
"Beautiful color and very nice early border bulb."
"Half the bulbs never produced. They popped up right after the snow melted, not wowed."
"These irises were beautiful and popped up very early in the Spring. Because I had never planted these, I assumed they were the same height as other irises even though the description clear says otherwise, oops! Regardless, these little guys were cute, though I need to find another place to move them for next year so they can be on full display."
"These just bloomed in our garden here in Vermont (end of March). They are so beautiful and such a nice burst of color during a time when nothing else is in bloom. They're holding their own pretty well out there even with our very low nighttime temperatures! Would definitely buy more of these little irises."
