Nothing announces spring quite like a sweep of creeping phlox in full bloom, and White Delight Creeping Phlox does it with snowy elegance. In mid to late spring, its low mat of dark green, needle-like foliage is smothered in pure white, star-shaped flowers, creating a dense carpet of blooms.
After the flowers fade, the evergreen foliage stays tidy and green all year. White Delight is perfect for creeping over rocks and retaining walls, carpeting sunny slopes, edging borders and filling rock gardens. Crisp white also has a cool, calming effect in the garden, helping to tone down more saturated colors. It is drought tolerant once established, deer resistant and even tolerates salt.
Fun fact: The name Phlox comes from the Greek word for "flame," a nod to the bright colors of many of its cousins, while subulata means "awl-shaped," describing its slender leaves. Unlike most phlox, this species is resistant to powdery mildew.
