The Foxy Hybrids Foxglove Mix blooms in soothing pastel shades of pink, purple yellow, cream and white all with burgundy, spotted throats. This foxglove blooms the first season so plants are shorter and sturdier. Deer resistant and able to handle part-shade, foxglove make great edging plants along woodland areas where they may naturalize. Best known as a popular bouquet flower and for its ability to attract hummingbirds. (Digitalis purpurea)

Hardy in sunny settng

"These plants arrived in good condition. I planted them in what I would describe as full sun. Some of them bloomed this summer although the plants looked rather small for most of the summer compared to some foxgloves I had purchased at local garden centers which were much larger diameter pots and much more expensive. However, by late summer and early fall the plants had filled out and now it is almost December and they are still green, lush and full of life. I expect a real show next summer. I am ordering more and will try some of them in partial shade. Next year I will post some photos if they mature as well as I anticipate."

Not growing flower stalks

"I planted these with some other floxgloves. They seem healthy and are growing more leaves, but no sign of blooming this year (as stated in the product description). The other floxgloves are in full flower, so it will be interesting to see if these bloom later or next year."

My favorite thing in the garden

"I absolutely love my foxglove from AM. I suspect that perhaps the reason some reviewers have been disappointed with their foxglove is because they are not familiar with its lifecycle. The first year, it establishes green leaves with no bloom. It overwinters, and in frost climates will need a major clean-up of tattered and unslightly leaves after winter. After this 'pruning' it will take off like a rocket; growing tons of healthy new leaves and a beautiful central flower spike. Mine has 3 additional spikes, as well. Then, after flowering in this second year, it will die in the fall. The foxglove I bought from American Meadows was literally the first thing I ever planted. I had no idea what I was doing and just stuck it in the ground; no potting soil, no fertilizer, nothing. It did wilt a bit during the humid first summer and needed heavy watering, and I did have a few problems with whiteflies in the second year (neem oil and diatomaceous earth kept the flies under control), but other than that it has been easy to take care of. This is a 'mid-size' foxglove. True wild foxglove can get up to 6' feet high. The most common American hybrids are dwarf foxgloves like Dalmation that are only 2' high. These are 3-4' high - 'just right' if you ask me. Embrace the unique, short life cycle of these plants. Plant a small one ever year, let it establish leaves, and then enjoy the show the following spring. If you're lucky, they will reseed themselves as well."
