Seersucker Sedge is unlike any sedge you've met. Native to rich woodlands of eastern North America, this evergreen perennial sports broad, deeply puckered leaves that ripple across the plant like a piece of seersucker fabric. The texture is unmistakable, the color is a glossy, fresh green, and the overall effect is a shade-garden showstopper that does the heavy lifting where hostas struggle with deer.
In early to mid spring, slender flowering stems rise above the foliage carrying small brown inflorescences that add a subtle, sculptural detail. But this plant is grown first and foremost for its foliage, which holds its rich green color from spring through winter and brings welcome texture to shady spots.
