"These grasses arrived very root-bound in their tiny plug pots. I cut the root masses into fourths and teased out the longest roots as best I could before planting. All of the plugs are showing good growth already, and I'm looking forward to having vertical accents in the part-shade areas of my garden beds that are now home to these beautiful native grasses."
Tufted Hair Grass is an excellent choice for adding height and structure to the garden. Happy in part sun/part shade locations in average soil and moderate moisture, Tufted Hair Grass will add a unique and lively element to the garden. A North American native, birds love the seeds. Planted in mass or with other grasses it can create a lovely meadowscape. Plant with ferns and hostas for a unique look. Easy care, just cut old growth to the ground in early spring before new growth emerges. It is a larval food plant for several butterflies in North America including the Umber Skipper.
