Lightly fragrant, ‘Benjamin Franklin' Peony's deep-red double blossoms join the parade just as other peonies are fading in early summer. Perfect for cut flowers, the large outer petals cradle delicate inner petals for sumptuous blooms that star in the yard or in a flower vase. Long-lived, a peony will thrive for decades. They died.

"I bought 2 Ben Franklin peony roots because the color in the photo looked very interesting. When they arrived they were smaller than expected but both had 2 eyes. Unfortunately they both died."

Pretty, but not red.

"We planted the bare roots in the fall of 2021, it bloomed the summer of 2023. Beautiful so far, but not red like pictures. Very bright pink."

Aerickson (4/5)

I would buy this again

"Mine also looked bright pink instead of red like the picture. It's still very pretty."

IntheWoods (4/5)

Pretty good plant

"I bought 2 of these and 1 Festiva Maxima Peony. When I planted I noticed 1 of the Benjamin Franklin's looked a little different from the rest. Didn't have any eyes like the others. That one never came up. I did reach out to customer service and they were able to issue a refund, since they didn't have any left at the time to send me a replacement. The one that came up is healthy and lush. I can't wait to start seeing blooms in a couple years!"

Ash (4/5)

Not sure

"I know this plant will take a few years to bloom. What I wonder about now are the yellow spots on the leaves. The other peony I received at the same time has nice dark green leaves. They are planted 3 to 4 feet apart from each other. Hopefully this is not a diseased plant."

Susan (2/5)

i love this peony!

"i have a large grouping of these in my backyard. they are lovely! such a beautiful red. i have had them for about 4 seasons now. the first two seasons aren't impressive, but they will be your favorites after the initial growth period."

Unlikely C. (5/5)

I would hesitate to buy this plant again.

"Still very small. Doubt that it will bloom this season."
