"ordered several plants and tubers, and most arrived in good shape. Of all the live plants, these arrived in the worst shape. Kept them under grow lights until it was warm enough to plant. It’s been over a month since they went outside and they’re still struggling and barely growing. Not feeling especially confident at this point"
"I ordered 5 different plants and received them about a month ago. Most arrived in good shape but haven't really shown much signs of growth. However the 3 primrose that I received looked pretty beaten up and tattered. I figured I'd try putting them in the ground and nurse them and they would bounce back but they look like they are just slowly dying. The flowers still bloom but each plant has like 2 yellow leaves left at this point. They probably each had about 5-6 yellow and broken leaves when I received them"
"I didn't intend to buy these but I was smitten when I saw them. They arrived healthy and robust and have adapted well to my poor soil and are blooming beautifully and making me smile every time I see them."
"Thought was dead when received but tried anyways. Received two sick plants with my order."
"Received a little dried out around the leaves but the roots looked intact and healthy. Planted keeping crowns above soil level as instructed and now just waiting for some sun and warmth as this is turning out to be a rainy Spring. Reason 4 stars out of five because I'm still waiting to see how they progress …."
"#sweepstakes I have my primrose in my shade/semi-shade garden. They arrived in excellent condition, and they're thriving. Beautiful flowers that add a nice splash of color in between my hostas, etc."
"Ordered 10 for a shade area. Shipping took 10 days. 2 were dead and 8 were burnt on arrival. I have been nursing the 8 that survived. I am hopeful that next year they will be beautiful."
"Unfortunately the little zebra plant was already brown and dry when it arrived and it completely died after a week or so. It seems like a pretty plant though if it had lived. #sweepstakes"
"I have raised primroses for years but lost several so I needed to replace them"
"I just came in for a break from planting my primroses, which perked up beautifully with the application of water asap once I opened the box. But - Well I ordered your Hethor Giant Primrose Mix on 4/9/22 - a month ago. I really looked forward to the multicolored ring of primulas I was planning around the birdbath. (I already had the first two primroses, bought last year locally. ) But, no. . . Yesterday I received a package from American Meadows. Everything was fine, except the primroses I received are the Blue Zebra variety. I am disappointed, even though the pictures on your web site are pretty, This is not what I had planned for my perennial garden! I will say that the rest of my order(s) have arrived in good shape; delivering exactly what I ordered. Overall I think American Meadows is a reputable company offering quality products."
Primrose is one of the earliest spring flowers in Europe. In Old French or medieval Latin "primrose" means "first rose". Easy to grow in humus-rich soil in partial shade to full sun primrose can be used to cover the ground in open woods. Perfect for the edge of the woodland garden. Be careful not to plant too deeply as it will result in crown rot. Attracts Birds and/or Butterflies and is bee friendly. (Primula acaulis)
