Description

This beautiful daisy is a newer version of the much-loved Shasta Daisy, which blooms from late spring until cooler weather sets in. The flowers are fully double, and give you great variety: Some flowers have standard petals, just plenty of them. Others have twisted petals, still others pointed petals. The plant is a tough dependable perennial that keeps bloom from late spring until the cooler weather of fall begins.

The Shasta Daisies are great plants, hybridized from a European wildflower. They're not invasive like our common daisy, and usually have larger flowers. Whats more, the flowers are classic white, and look great both in more formal perennial displays and in informal wildflower gardens.

In recent years, the hybridizers have worked on this species, creating various flower forms from doubles to all sorts of variations on the original.

Nice Blooms Second Year

"I wish I had known ahead of time that they don't bloom the first year. It drove me crazy wondering what I'd done wrong -- the plants looked healthy, but no blooms. Now in the second year they are blooming just fine and doing well despite our drought (CALIF) conditions. They are only about half the size of the more traditional Shasta Daisies. This is good if you need medium-low height plants to fill in and you like Shasta Daisies, but not the height. However, if you're looking for height and width, you're not gonna get it with the Crazy Daisies. They are about half the size of my other Shasta Daisies."

"I fell in love with the plant from your picture. I planted them as directed and cared for them. When they didn't bloom I called your customer service and got a very helpful man. He explained that for the first year they won't bloom because they're putting down a good root system. We talked about my concerns and he assured me I was doing it right. I can't wait for next spring and see them bloom. If you want to contact me then, I'll be glad to give you a progress report."

Anniversary Present

"Ordered 6 plants for my daughter and son-in-law's anniversary. One was dead upon arrival. Two died shortly after planting, one didn't make through the season and two are alive and well! The plants appeared to be different different species. Which perhaps is why they are "Crazy Daisies. ""
