How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Growing Shooting Stars: This plant is so popular, and has been gathered so widely, it is now on the protected list in several states. Its happy in deciduous shade, but not too close to trees. Give it plenty of moisture, and if your soil is very acid, this species will appreciate a little dolomitic lime in the fall.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"It died early as it was coming up & never came back up . All the plant did as well . It is flimsy plant ."
"This is one of my favorite native plants for partial shade. I have it for 3 springs already and it comes up reliably. Plants look healthy and no apparent diseases or pests. When planted in the fall all 3 roots produced flowers the following spring. I only wish it would spread as I'd like to have more."
"I bought these last fall and planted them as arrived per instructions. They came up really nicely this spring. Waiting to see them spread."
"Very attractive early Spring blooming perennial. Only two of the three bulbs survived the winter."
"Planted 9 of these in 2 locations, both under hemlocks, in Vermont. All came up and bloomed, a few the first spring, all of them the second spring, and now in their 3rd year, they are really stunning. Both locations are doing well."
"Plants haven't really come up yet. Waiting for them to fully emerge & bloom. Planted on side of house that gets AM sun."
