Symphoricarpos, commonly called Snowberry or Coralberry, are native to North America, from Quebec to Alaska and then scattered through the Northern states. Snowberries attract many beneficial pollinators and birds. The dense branches provide shelter during the winter for birds and small animals in habitat gardens. Bees and butterflies sip the nectar from flowers, and birds will eat the berries in winter.
Note: Berries are not for human consumption.
The name Snowberry refers to the appearance of the fruit - when it is broken open, the inside looks like snow.
Adaptable to a wide variety of conditions, Pink Posyâ„¢ will grow in full sun to part shade, and in gravelly or sandy soil. Prune in Pruning late winter after all of the berries and leaves are gone. to remove diseased or overly crowded branches. Thanks to its compact size, it is a great fit for decorative patio containers, hedges, mixed garden beds, and walkways.
