"Just scattered over lightly tilled patch. Lovely!"

DK (5/5)

Surprise!

"I have been involved in renovating a house for the past year. The yard is pretty torn up and there is a lot of areas of turned up soils. Since I'm not a fan of grass for grass's sake, I started scattering this mix in a large area behind the house where nothing is rolling around tearing up the lawn anymore. Initially, I though that it didn't take. Weeks went by with nothing to show. Well, it's seed and I had no access to water, so it was going to have to do the wild thing and germinate and grow on its own. Finally, in late Summer, things started coming up and I had a patch of cosmos. Mostly, cosmos. There were a few other things, but the cosmos were glorious. And they kept coming up and the pollinators were all over it. Butterflies. Bees. Dragonflies (not pollinators, but nonetheless they enjoyed the area and sat there looking like flowers themselves. ) Little birds. Probably lots of mice. It was a great surprise. The blooms lasted right up to the hard frost, too. Well into October."
