Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. "I have purchased dahlias from American Meadows for several years. This variety was part of a total shipment of 12 different dahlias which has been very disappointing. All 12 were planted at the same time in the same way in the same place roughly 3 months ago. Some are about 24" high, some are 12" high, some have just sprouted and some have never come up. Only one, Snow Country, has a bloom."
"It's a beautiful dahlia, but the color pattern is not as pictured. The leaves are striped yellow and red, instead of yellow edges with red. It's still beautiful, and a decent size, ~4" across. I didn't know that dahlias don't always come true to color."

"My Dinner Plate Dahlias now have 3 beautifully developing blooms. These blooms are 6", 7" and 4" in width and they are not yet fully developed as a full flower. The 2 large flowers are thick with peddles, I assume the little one will be thick next week. The colors are dark, medium and light pink. The "trunks" of each plant is at least 1" wide. I water them about once every day. I am very proud of my pretty Dahlias!"
