How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
(36-48" tall x 24” wide) The twisted, multi-hued petals of Myrtle’s Folly Dahlia are sure to mesmerize visitors to your garden. It holds its pom-pom-esque blooms strongly on 4 ft. stems, allowing it to mingle in the mid-border and make a statement at the same time. Grow this cheerleader in a full sun site with protection from high winds or stake lightly in more exposed locations. Like all dahlias, too much moisture can rot out the tubers, so a moisture retentive soil that drains well is preferred. Myrtle’s Folly Dahlia can benefit from light pinching at the growing points early in the season. Later in summer as the flowers fade, you’ll be rewarded for diligently deadheading with more blossoms for vase and garden. For gardeners living in cooler climates (Zone 8 and colder), the vigorous tubers can be lifted and stored in a cool, frost-free location over the winter for even more blooms next year. A truly glorious cultivar.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. "3 Stars because only 1 of 3 grew. However, the 1 that grew is beautiful! It has given me 4 blooms this year, each over 10 inches (dinner plates don't give as many blooms because of their size). I'm just disappointed that the other two did not even sprout! Dahlia tubers are expensive to begin with, so I expect all three tubers to grow."
"I wasn't going to write a review for this product, my feelings are mixed. I was sent a replacement, AND later a refund for this product. This was my most anticipated purchase for the year, a dahlia named after my Grandmother, who was the Dahlia Queen! She would have hated it's non decorative form, but I like it. I was sad, because I had a special place of honor for two of the three tubers, but only one was viable, they sent a replacement and NONE were viable, every single tuber, and there were MANY, had a broken neck and all were blind. I'm writing because my one Original tuber is starting to bloom, it is giant and lovely, well formed, productive, deep purple/red, but it is not Myrtle's Folly. The irony is that my Grandmother would have LOVED this flower I have no idea what it is but I named it Sweet Myrtle."
