How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"My dahlias are doing very well even in our hotter than normal triple digit weather. Very pretty and strong."
"This was a fun new dahlia for me, I LOVED the cheerful blooms and striking colors. There were several variations from the same tuber, and it was fun to see how each opened up a bit differently. This one produced blooms on end and was a new favorite. The only bummer was when the frosts came this still had tons of buds that didn't get to open up. I planted these very late, so that's on me. Next year I'll plant them earlier so I can enjoy the full season. Great cut flowers, and such bright cheerful blooms."
"I had a ton of fun with these colors! Quite a producer also!"
"Planted them along the porch reling - half under porch roof so they are protected from heavy rain. About 7 hours of full sun. Fertalized in november 2020 with horse manour and they grew about 6 ft in hight so we actually can see them from inside the living room. Very happy !"
"Dahlia took a long time to reach mature height and bloom. Thereafter, the blooms can often. The stems are short for such a big flower. Makes cut flower arranging a bit of a challenge."
"Only two out of three came up. Unfortunately, one broke in a severe storm, but the remaining one is beautiful!"
