The trumpet-like flowers of Dynamite Gladiolus bloom in a fireworks mix of plum-purple and lemon-yellow–combining a classic color-wheel pairing in one plant! Mix these tall-flowering spikes within a sunny yellow or violet border and just wait for sparks to fly in mid-summer. It’s all in the name! Rich soil. Cut flower. (Gladiolus)
(36-60” tall x 18” wide) Dynamite Gladiolus unites the strongest elements of cool and hot colors together in one flower and then gives you more of them – unfurling each blossom on a flowering spike from the bottom-up in mid-summer. Dynamite Gladiolus is a large 4-5 ft. cultivar, so it is eminently suitable for mid or back-of-border sites where the soil is rich and the sunshine is abundant. Sword shaped foliage will also add a vertical note against blowsier perennials and grasses. Give Dynamite gladioli protection from strong winds or lightly stake the flower spikes (inflorescences) to get the most out of the display–and don’t forget to cut a few for the house. Dynamite Gladioli is a dazzling vertical accent in an otherwise straight-laced bouquet. In cooler climates, corms can be lifted and stored in a cool, dark location over the winter months to provide just as many “explosive” blooms in next year’s garden.
Planting & Care
Growing Gladiolus: Everyone knows gladiolus, but not every gardener knows how easy they are to grow. The original "glad" was a wildflower from South Africa called "sword lily", which was imported into Europe in the 1840's. As with almost every other bulb, the Dutch went to work and created a grand rainbow from a quite lowly flower.
Put them close together so you'll end up with a mass of color, not just a stick here and there. One of the things that makes growing gladiolus so easy is that the plants take up almost no space. You can easily pop in the bulbs between other more permanent plants. Just find the spaces in your garden, put in the bulbs in.
And everyone knows gladiolus are great in a vase. So be sure to plant plenty where you can cut them. They're inexpensive, and few other flowers give you so much color for the cost. When frost threatens, you can just forget them, and buy new ones in spring, or dig up the bulbs and store them until the following spring. Don't hesitate. Enjoy gladiolus this summer. You can't have too many.

"These were gorgeous - they turned out pink/purple starburst color, which I was thrilled with. Had I been counting on the yellow/pink starburst, I would have been disappointed. It would be best to show photos of all possible bloom colors in your description!"

They don't look like the photos at all
"I bought a few different glads online so I'm not sure which are the dynamite ones, because none look like them. I have 1 all yellow one with a slight red stripe in the throat. I suspect that's it. Either that or it's all pink, since I have several of those. They're all beautiful, but I really wanted more yellow ones."
