How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"This Dahlia is a show stopper. Deep bright canary yellow not pale like most yellow dahlias. Blooms last forever. It has been weeks since first one opened not spent yet. Blooms do not get ruined or bent in heavy rain. Stunning cactus design and size of bloom great. Very sturdy plant. I give Alaska Fish Fertilizer 0-10-10 every 2 weeks when buds appear greatly increased bloom production. Use in morning water plant first then apply 1 Tbsp per gallon around plant about a quarter of gallon per plant. I do in morning never full sun on plant or temps above 82°. Will be ordering more next season!"
