How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"Gorgeous blooms that keep coming. This one's a winner."
"The Japanese beetles loved the blooms this year due to the massive drought in my area. The blossoms are relatively small also due to the drought. What will come during the next 3 months may make a better review than now."
"Beautiful blooms on shorter stems on compact plants. These tubers grew well and bloomed fairly early. Blooms continued until frost. The short heavily branched stems make them suitable for short vases. Really a lovely flower on a strong plant."
"All three of the tubers have grown healthy plants, which started flowering weeks before any of my other dahlias, and have just kept on producing flowers since. The flowers are really pretty. Definitely seems to be a reliable bloomer. I haven't had much luck with it as a cut flower, though, finding that either it stays small or unopened or fades quite quickly. That's the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me."
"I planted 6 different dahlia types in a raised bed for the first time this summer. The Creme de Cassis was far and away the most prolific bloomer with gorgeous blooms true to the size and coloring in the pictures on American Meadows. It was the first to bud, and has lasted in bloom longer than any of the other dahlias."
"Gorgeous flowers. Not as big as I expected, but more bloomed than I expected. I planted them in a sunny spot next to peonies and Cafe au Lait Dahlias. I haven't seen anything but low greenery from the Cafe au Lait Dahlias and peonies. . . but the Creme de Cassis Dahlias? SIX FEET TALL. With many blooms. I planted them carefully as per instructions, watered frequently at the beginning, but then kinda ignored for a large part of the summer. Very happy with them. Will definitely be taking special care of them this winter and buying more next year. . . . . . . make sure to have very heavy duty tomato cages or plant them next to something sturdy."
"This dahlia grew quickly (was one of my first to bloom in July) and has lots of flowers even though I didn't pinch it. Next year I will try pinching it though to see if it grows even more flowers. The tops of the petals are light purple and the bottoms of the petals are dark purple. Very unique!"
"Love Love Love! Gorgeous, and abundant blossoms! I did pinch the plant when it first started which was so hard to do but well worth it! Plant did not get too high so weathered storms etc. well, and the flowers are amazing! Can't wait to do these again!"
"I ordered 3 tubers. All three grew. Flowers are just like the photo - very pretty for the garden and for cut flowers in a vase. Lots and lots of blooms on every plant. None of them were 6 inch flowers."
