Sparaxis Mix, also known as a Harlequin flowers, bring colorful trumpet-shaped blooms with contrasting star-shaped throats to the early summer garden. Use them to create a carpet of jewel-toned color and remember that although they need full sun, they come into bloom before every tree has completely leafed out, so you may have more site choices than you think. Harlequin flowers are fairly easy to grow and at only 10” high, are perfect for borders, rock gardens, and containers. (Sparaxis)

Description

Sparaxis, also called Harlequin Flower, boasts jewel toned flowers with bright yellow throats, edged in black. The bloom is reminiscent of the Harlequin's collar, hence the common name!

Happy in full sun, plant it along borders, in a rock garden, or anyplace its bright, unusual flowers can be appreciated. Drought tolerant, water freely during flower growth, but it’s not fussy and will do well with minimal care. Sparaxis are cold hardy to zone 9, and will do well with a deep mulch down to zone 7. In colder zones, grow Sparaxis as an annual, or lift the corms before frost and store in a cool, dry place to be replanted in Spring.
